The obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty’s striking bust, designed by John Mercanti, as she looks ahead with an air of contemplation. She is adorned with her recognizable pointed crown. The reverse features the majestic bald eagle, soaring through the sky with outstretched wings. The eagle flies in front of a background with a lovely rising sun.
