The obverse of the Gold Maple Leaf showcases a beautiful effigy of Queen Elizabeth’s head, designed by Susanna Blunt in 2003. She looks to the right, wearing elegant jewelry and surrounded by inscriptions of her name, the denomination, and the year of mintage. A background of thin radial lines originates from the middle of the coin.

The reverse of the Gold Maple Leaf displays the famous Maple Leaf design created by engraver Walter Ott. The leaf appears over a background of radial lines. Additionally, a smaller, unique maple leaf is micro-engraved with a laser towards the bottom of the coin as a security feature. Inscriptions for the purity, weight, and country's name surround the rim.
