The highly popular Queen’s Beasts series was introduced by the British Royal Mint in 2016 with the issue of the “Lion of England” coin. This superb program features each of the ten heraldic beasts which stood guard at the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Each one of the beasts supports a badge of arms of every family that has been associated with the Her Majesty’s ancestry. The 1st edition was followed then by the “Griffin of Edward III”, “Red Dragon of Wales”, “White Greyhound of Richmond”, “Black Bull of Clarence“ and will continue with the Yale of Beaufort, the White Lion Mortimer, the White Horse of Hanover, and the Unicorn of Scotland.
