Almost 10 years ago the United States Mint started issuing 56 silver quarters depicting US National parks and other notable US sites as part of a thrilling new program. Still going strong, the “America the Beautiful” quarters series remains just as popular today. The gorgeous and significant places featured on these coins continue to be released in the order they were first established as a national park or historic site. Authorized by America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008, five new and exciting quarter designs are produced each year. The jurisdictions/states represented by the new 2019 releases include Massachusetts, Texas, Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam. 

The 2019 5 oz Silver America the Beautiful ATB Guam War in the Pacific National Historical Park Coin marks the 48th overall coin in the ATB series. Located in Guam,  the “War in the Pacific National Historical Park” serves to honor those who fought battles in the Pacific during World War II. Forever commemorated on this beautiful 5 oz silver coin, the sacrifices of these brave soldiers will not be forgotten. 

The reverse of the coin depicts soldiers coming ashore at Asan Bay in South Korea. This arrival provided much-needed reinforcement for the troops already on the island. Furthermore, this boost in numbers greatly turned the tide in the fight for Guam's future liberation. 

The obverse displays George Washington’s recognizable bust, looking left.
