2019 1 oz Silver Canadian Maple Leaf Phonograph Privy Reverse Proof PCGS PF 69 FS

Celebrate a huge milestone in history with the 2019 1 oz Canadian Maple Leaf Phonography Privy Reverse Coin in .9999 pure silver. This coin is certified as PF 69 “near-perfect” condition by PCGS with the First Strike designation. This gorgeous silver coin features the phonograph privy mark from the Edison Opera phonograph. Additionally, it comes in the reverse proof finish which is known for its crystal clear design and beautiful frosted matte background.

To continue honoring Thomes Edison, the Royal Canadian Mint added the special phonograph privy mark to their Canadian Maple Leaf coins. This particular invention was selected for the privy mark because Edison presented it to the Governor-General of Canada back in the 1800s. Edison designed the phonograph in the late 1870s, an invention that helped lead the old world into the world we have today. The phonograph became more commonly known as the record player in the 1940s. This machine was a new device that brought music from the theatre to people’s homes. The phonograph was a remarkable device that paved the way for many other similar inventions that bring us to the world of communications that we have access to today. This privy mark honors Edison’s contribution to the world.

The obverse displays Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her side profile portrait and inscriptions of “ELIZABETH II” and “5 DOLLARS 2019” adorn this side. Of course, the Royal Canadian Mint features Mintshield technology on these coins which helps to prevent ‘milky’ or white spots.

The reverse features the sugar maple leaf design. The privy mark is the phonograph, an invention by Thomas Edison in 1878. Edison’s machine inspired other inventors like Alexander Graham and Emile Berliner. This gorgeous silver coin reflects on the history of sound recording and how valuable it is to us today. You’ll also find the inscriptions “CANADA,” “9999 FINE SILVER” and “1 OZ ARGENT PUR” on this side.
