The U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful Series was started in 2010 to honor the beauty and splendor of the American National Parks. These coins have shown epic and breathtaking images of the United States’ most prized treasures. The ATB program will release 56 coins in total, authorized by America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008. Each year, the U.S. Mint issues five coins featuring famous U.S. National Parks, Forests, and Historical Monuments that represent the grandeur that America has to offer. The sites featured on these coins are released in the order they were first established as a national park or heritage site.
The Cumberland Island National Seashore is one of the most beautiful places in Georgia. This island is the largest of the states Golden Isles. Accessible only by boat with only a 300 visitor capacity, this park has 23 distinct ecological communities. From the pristine maritime forests, gorgeous beaches, and the overall natural beauty of this coin is sure to be a hit in the ATB series.
