Scrooge McDuck was created by Carl Banks in 1947 while he was a freelance cartoonist working for Disney. McDuck is the uncle of Donald Duck and the great-uncle of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Based on Charles Dickens's classic character, Ebenezer Scrooge, Scrooge McDuck is the richest character in the Disney "Duck Universe." In early films and series, McDuck was portrayed as a greedy miser, much like his namesake, Ebenezer. Later, however, he started taking on the role of hero, adventurer, and philanthropist. In 1952, a Scrooge McDuck comic book series was launched. It still runs to date.
The grading and certifying company PCGS has graded this coin as an MS 70 as having a virtually perfect strike. The First Strike designation makes this coin even more unique.
