This unique coin is a special anniversary release for the 225th anniversary of US Mint in 2017. This $100 American Liberty High Relief coin is struck in .9999 fine 24-karat gold at the West Point Mint in New York with a high relief and a proof finish. This amazing coin comes graded by NGC as Proof 69, with an Early Releases label indicating it was certified within the first month of its release. The idea of creating this series firstly appeared earlier, when the Artistic Infusion Program of designers and US Mint sculptors created several images of anniversary coin for promotional brochure in 2016. The final coin artwork impressed collectors around the world. First time in American coinage the Lady Liberty depicted as an African American woman, wearing a crown of stars in treasure to the bronze Statue of Freedom topping the arcade of U.S. Capitol. The design completed with the inscriptions: “LIBERTY”, “1792”, “2017” and “IN GOD WE TRUST”. Created by Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) designer - Justin Kunz and sculpted by Mint Engraver - Phebe Hemphill.
This stunning 2017 American Liberty High Relief Proof Gold Coin is a first one in a series of 24-karat gold coins that will feature designs of the allegorical Liberties in a variety of forms including Asian-American, Indian-American, Hispanic-American among others to show the cultural and ethnic diversity of the United States.
This unique coin was verified by the Numismatic Grading Company as a Proof Coin with 69 scales. Coins of proof quality have no equal in sharpness or brilliance. These specially made coins are so finely sculptured that extremely detailed, that you can easily notice this.
