Privy BU. This coin celebrates the 200^th anniversary since the first mintage in 1817, although the story of the coin started much earlier, during 1489 when Henry VII ordered the creation of a “new money of gold.” The Sovereign coin is known to be the most renowned currency in more than 20 countries within the 19^th century. Considered by many to be the most famous British coin and the flagship coin of the Royal Mint, this significant coin is struck to the same prestigious standards as all the Royal Mint series. There are hundreds of myths around the meaning of this legend but the general interpretation of this design is that the dragon symbolizes the “Evil of the world” and St. George, as a soldier and only a human being was able to save the world solely just with courage and strength.

The obverse presents the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by the inscriptions “2017,” “ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REG FID DEF.”
