The Mercury Dime Centennial Gold Coin boasts Adolph A. Wineman’s iconic Winged Liberty design, which originally made its debut in 1916. Struck by the historic U S Mint, the 2016 release of this popular design is an occasion 100 years in the making!

The Mercury Dime, also known as the Winged Liberty Head dime, was produced from 1916-1945 with a composition of 90% silver. After 1945 the Roosevelt dime was introduced in honor of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Now, in 2016, in its centennial year, the Mercury Dime is finally being offered in gold.

The dime gained its common name from the fact that the obverse's depiction of Lady Liberty in a winged Phrygian cap, which was confused with the Roman Goddess Mercury. The wings on the cap are intended to symbolize liberty of thought.

Coin Specifications:

• Composed of 1/10 troy ounce of .9999 fine gold.
• Each coin has been issued a face value of $.10 backed by the U.S. government.
• Available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
• Ships in original mint black-matte hardwood case with COA.
• The reverse depicts a fasces (bound bundle of wooden rods), symbolizing unity and strength, and an olive branch, signifying peace. Inscriptions on the reverse are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM ("Out of Many, One"), AU 24K, and the weight. The mint mark "W" for the West Point Mint appears under the fasces.
• The obverse design features a left facing depiction of Liberty, wearing a winged cap, with the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “2016” and the artist’s initials, “AW” along the rim of the coin.
