2015 W $1 Coin & Currency Set - Sacagawea Mohawk Ironworkers NGC SP 70 ER W/ GEM Uncirculated Banknot

This 2015 W Sacagawea Native American $1 dollar and GEM uncirculated $1 banknote honors some of the people who provided a great service during a very difficult time in American history. The coin features beautiful imagery on both sides. The Reverse side is especially moving for anyone who might have been affected by the September 11th tragedy.

Sacagawea is featured on the obverse of this 2015 W Sacagawea $1 coin. There are a few unique features to this coin. On the obverse Sacagawea is shown carrying her son, Jean Baptiste, on her back. Also, Sacagawea is turned partially away from the holder. To the left of Sacagawea about halfway up the coin on the left is the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” At the top of the coin, the word that appears on the obverse of nearly all American coinage, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed.

While the other side shows an iron worker using the frame of the picture as a foot hold and also holding onto the frame with his left hand while he is reaching for a beam with his right. The background is an aerial view of the New York City skyline.  One of New York’s most famous landmarks, The Empire State Building, can be seen to the right. Also to the right of the worker is the coins face value “$1,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” arches above the frame. While on the bottom the inscription reads ““MOHAWK IRONWORKERS.”

Included in the set with this coin is a GEM Uncirculated $1 banknote.  While the banknote is very similar to any other $1 note, there are two special features on the note.  The first being that these notes all come from the New York Federal Reserve Bank, as indicated by the treasury mark to the left of the portrait of President George Washington on the face of the note. The other special feature on this note is that all the serial numbers start with the numbers “911”. This is a reference to September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
