The 2015 Blue Ridge Parkway 5 oz Silver Coin is the third to be released in the 2015 America the Beautiful Quarters Series. Each coin contains 5 ounces of .9999 fine silver with a face value of $.25, the Blue Ridge Parkway Coin is the 28th strike in the series which is slated to continue until at least 2021. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway in the United States, noted for its awe inspiring scenic beauty. The parkway, which is America’s longest linear park, runs for 469 miles through 29 counties mainly along the Blue Ridge Mountain which is part of the Appalachian Mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway was built to connect Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Parkway, while not a “National Park” has been the most visited unit of the National Park system since 1946.
The American the Beautiful Quarters Series is a 56 coin series issued by the United States Mint which began in 2010 and is scheduled to continue until at 2021. The quarters have been issued depicting designs of national parks and sites in the order to which that park or site was deemed a national site. Though they may depict the same sites, they bear new designs. They feature an uncirculated finish and contain a “P” mint mark indicating they were struck at the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia, the bullion coins were also struck in Philadelphia but contain no mint mark.

- Obverse: Features a portrait of George Washington which has been restored from its original 1932 portrait, with the inscriptions of United States of America, Liberty, In God We Trust and Quarter Dollar.
- Reverse: Features the winding Blue Ridge Parkway alongside the edge of the mountain with the parks stunning forestry and flowers surrounding the parkway. “BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY”, “NORTH CAROLINA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “2015” are inscribed around the rim of the coin.
