History:
After Congressman Ron Paul presented an idea to President Ronald Reagan’s Gold Commission in 1981, the American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins were released in 1986. The coins are offered in four different sizes by the U.S. Mint and they are 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, and 1/10 oz with a face value of $50, $25, $10, and $5 respectively. These coins are minted by the U.S. Mint every year and the mint also provides guarantee for its weight, content, and purity. Per law the gold for the coin is mined only from the American mines.
