This 2009 1 oz Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle Coin honors the 1907 designs of Augustus Saint-Gaudens with an Ultra High Relief Strike. The coin is made from 0.9999 fine gold with a weight of 1 troy oz.

The obverse showcases Lady Liberty holding an olive branch and flaming torch in her hands as she strides towards the future. The background consists of the Capital building with the sun's rays. Inscriptions include the word "LIBERTY" and the year of mintage.

The reverse of the coin depicts a hopeful flying eagle, the sun coming up on a new day. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the denomination.

Inscribed on the rim is the famous quote "E PLURIBUS UNUM" which translates to 'Out of many, one.'
