This 2008 W Gold $5 Commemorative Bald Eagle BU coin is a beautiful piece of American history. The Bald Eagle, nearing the brink of extinction just 35 years ago, has made remarkable progress and is still expanding its presence throughout our Nation's lands and skies.

The obverse features two bald eagles sitting on a branch. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the year of mintage.

The reverse depicts an image of the current Great Seal of the United States as engraved in 1903. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," along with the denomination and mint mark.
