1962 Mexican Cinco De Mayo Commemorative Gold Medal AGW 1.2057 oz (Scruffy)
This 1862 Mexico Cinco De Mayo Commemorative Gold Medal commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. The medal is made from 90% fine gold with a weight of 1.2057 troy oz.
The obverse features the Statue of General Ignacio Zaragoza on horseback facing left, near a cannon and cannonballs. Puebla is in the distance to left. Inscriptions include "HEROICA BATALLA DEL 5 DE MAYO DE 1862" and "CENTENARIO". The word "PUEBLA" appears next to the horses raised hoof.
The reverse features the Mexican national coat of arms, which displays an eagle devouring a snake is it is perched atop a cactus.
