The 2.5 Pesos Mexican Gold Coin honors Mexico’s national hero Don Miguel Hidalgo, a priest who is considered to be the father of the Mexican Independence movement who organized an army of civilians and who was martyred by the Spanish. This gold coin has an actual gold weight (AGW) of .0603 oz. The coin is composed of .900 pure gold. This coin was first introduced in 1918 and was minted until 1948.
