1917 Walking Liberty Half Dollar 90% Silver NGC AU 55
Bullion Exchanges is pleased to offer this 1917 Walking Liberty Half Dollar 90% Silver NGC AU 55. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar is a hallmark of beauty in American coinage.The coin was a long running series and was minted from 1916 till 1947. Since 1839 Walking Liberty Half Dollar had a mint mark placed on its obverse; however, since the placement gave an impression of a die defect, it was decided to transfer the mint mark to the reverse. Meanwhile, the 1917 release has coins with the obverse mint mark as well as the reverse mint mark. Mint marks were created only for San Francisco Mint and Denver Mint while Philadelphia Mint did not have a mint mark.
The coin is designed by the famous sculptor Adolph A. Weinman and features a beautiful image of Lady Liberty striding forward covered in US flag and her gown and flag billowing in the wind. Her right arm is outstretched and her left hand is holding branches of oak and olive. She is wearing a Liberty cap. The background is equally beautiful with a large sun rising from beyond the hills. The reverse has a beautiful design of a magnificent eagle perched on top of a hill. A mountain pine is springing from the rock crevice symbolical of America. The coin comes in NGC encapsulation with the grading on it. The coin has an individual serial number.
