1904 $20 Liberty Head Gold Double Eagle Coin NGC MS 63+

 

This historical 1904 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle is graded by NGC as Mint State 63+. The Liberty Gold Double Eagle was designed by Chief Engraver James Longacre.

The obverse side, inspired by the Roman sculpture "Crouching Venus", depicts Lady Liberty facing left and wearing a pearl-studded diadem with the word "LIBERTY" inscribed on it. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast beneath a ring of 13 stars, the denomination inscribed on the rim of the side.
