The obverse features a bust of Lady Liberty on her left side encircled by 13 stars, symbolizing the original colonies of the New World. Inscribed is the phrase "LIBERTY" along with the year of mintage.

The reverse side displays a bald eagle bearing a patriotic shield on its chest and its wings spread open. In its talons, are a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the denomination.
