Named after their designer, US Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan, Morgan Dollars were minted by the US Mint from 1878 until 1904. Their production ceased during that year due to the depletion of the US silver reserve. The passage of the Pittman Act in 1918 authorized the melting of millions of Silver Dollars. Consequently, in 1921, the US Mint resumed the mintage of Silver Morgan Dollars. Later that same year, the Morgan Dollar design was replaced by the Peace Dollar, making 1921 the last year Morgan Dollars were officially minted.

The obverse of the coin showcases a Lady Liberty facing left, along with the year of mintage and the phrase “E PLURIBUS UNUM.

The reverse displays the American Bald Eagle with its wings spread open holding an olive branch and arrows A wreath encircles the bottom of the eagle.
