1866 $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle Gold Coin Motto NGC AU Details

The 1866 $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle Gold Coin Motto NGC AU Details is a rare and valuable coin from the United States Mint. This particular coin is graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as AU Details, which indicates that it has some wear but retains most of its original details.

The coin was struck in 1866, after a brief hiatus in the production of double eagle gold coins during the Civil War. This was the first year that the motto "In God We Trust" appeared on the reverse of the coin, above the eagle's head. The coin is made of 90% gold and 10% copper, with a weight of 0.9675 troy oz.

The obverse of the coin features Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with the word "Liberty," and surrounded by 13 stars representing the original colonies. The date "1866" is located below the image of Lady Liberty.

The reverse of the coin displays a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings, holding an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Above the eagle's head is the motto "In God We Trust," and the denomination "Twenty Dollars" is inscribed below the eagle.
