1853 Seated Liberty Silver Dime 10C Arrows PCGS XF 40

The 1853 Seated Liberty Silver Dime 10C Arrows PCGS XF 40 is a historic silver piece now available at Bullion Exchanges! Struck by the US Mint in Philadelphia, this coin is graded as Extremely Fine 40 (XF 40) by PCGS.

On February 21, 1853, Congress passed a law that lowered the weight of the half dime to half dollars about seven percent. Opposing arrowheads were added on either side of the date to indicate these coins with the new lower weight.

The obverse features the seated Liberty as designed by Christian Gobrecht and Robert B. Hughes, as well as the year of issue.

The reverse displays the denomination within a laurel wreath surrounded by the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”.
