This beautiful 10 Francs French Gold Napoleon III AGW .0933 Avg Circ oz is a real piece of history, featuring one of two well-known designs: a bare-headed portrait, or a laureate portrait of Napoleon III. The first artwork, a bare-headed portrait of Napoleon III, was minted between the years 1854-1860. Whereas, the second one, a laureate portrait of Napoleon III, was minted between the years 1861-1869.
The coin design created by Jean Jacques Barre, his name appears on obverse below the head. The reverse design depicts the coin value "10 FRANCS" and the date in three lines surrounded by intertwined laurels. The mintmark "A" or "BB" appears below the wreath.
