The 2024 American Eagle is the next release of the US Mint’s official bullion coin program. The reverse design of the Silver Eagle series, created in 1986, was done by John Mercanti until 2020. In 2020, the US Mint revealed a new reverse design for the 35th anniversary of the American Gold and Silver Eagles. This coin features the updated design! Both the bald eagle and the statue of liberty are iconic American symbols, both showcased on this silver coin.
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty marching forward to the setting sun with oak and laurel branches in her left arm. She reaches out her right arm towards the horizon with the American flag over her shoulders.
The reverse, designed by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, depicts a bald eagle swooping down for a landing while holding an oak branch in its talons.
