Bullion Exchanges proudly offers this Gold Sovereign Coin NGC/PCGS MS 63. This coin is graded by PCGS or NGC MS 63 with a weight of .2354 ozt. Collectors often purchase gold Sovereigns for their history and rarity. Purchase this wonderful addition for your collection, or as a gift, today!

Sovereigns have a long history dating back all the way to King Henry VII in 1489. These Sovereigns most commonly depict Queen Victoria’s grandson King George V on the obverse. This coin might also feature the legendary St. George. The legend states that he liberated a kingdom from the evil control of a dragon who demanded a sacrifice every year. When St George arrived, he saved the Swedish princess by defeating the tyrannical dragon. This design captures the scene of St George on horseback, defeating the evil dragon with sword in hand, but the reverse might instead feature the shield design. Shield designs will feature the British crown and shield motif, framed by a heraldic wreath.

The obverse features a bust portrait of the reigning monarch at the time of minting the coin.

Most dates for the reverse feature St. George mounted on horseback slaying a dragon, a design by Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci. Some coins from Queen Victoria's reign feature a crowned shield.
