About XRP
What is XRP?
XRP is the native cryptocurrency of the Ripple payment protocol, launched in 2012 by Ripple Labs. Designed for rapid global transfers, XRP facilitates near-instant, low-cost cross-border payments—solving problems traditional banking systems struggle with.
Unlike decentralized networks like Bitcoin, RippleNet uses a consensus protocol rather than mining. This makes XRP highly energy-efficient and capable of processing transactions in just 3–5 seconds, with fees often less than a cent. Its utility has earned it strong adoption among financial institutions and remittance providers.
XRP’s fixed total supply of 100 billion tokens also differentiates it from inflationary digital assets. A portion of each transaction fee is permanently destroyed, making it a deflationary asset over time.
XRP is often compared to SWIFT as a next-gen financial bridge. It is supported by major exchanges and can be stored in a variety of wallets, including hardware options like Ledger, or software options like Xumm or Trust Wallet.
XRP’s price is influenced by adoption rates, Ripple’s legal status (notably the SEC case), macroeconomic trends, and utility within RippleNet. Despite regulatory scrutiny, XRP continues to serve as a cornerstone for fast, reliable, and scalable digital payments.
Bullion Exchanges accepts cryptocurrencies via BitPay for precious metal purchases, letting investors use this efficient cryptocurrency to buy gold and silver.
