About Sky (SKY)

Sky (SKY) is the native token of Skycoin, a project launched in 2013 to create a completely decentralized internet free from the control of telecom monopolies and large tech companies. The Skycoin platform powers Skywire, a next-generation mesh network designed to replace traditional ISPs.

Unlike most cryptocurrencies, Skycoin operates on its own blockchain with a custom consensus protocol called Obelisk, which replaces Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake with a web-of-trust model. This allows for ultra-fast, energy-efficient transactions.

SKY is used to incentivize bandwidth sharing, fund decentralized applications, and reward participation in the Skywire network. The ecosystem also features Coin Hours, which are earned by holding SKY and can be spent on transaction fees or services.

Skycoin’s broader vision includes a full-stack Web3 experience: distributed storage (Sky-Messenger, Sky-Fiber), blockchain-based identity, and secure hardware devices.

SKY can be traded on select platforms such as LBank and Finexbox, though availability is limited compared to mainstream tokens. It is stored in the Skywallet or supported third-party wallets.

Its price is primarily influenced by adoption of Skywire nodes, bandwidth-sharing activity, community development, and the push for internet decentralization.

Bullion Exchanges supports cryptocurrencies via BitPay for payments, allowing visionary internet decentralists to back their beliefs with physical gold or silver holdings.
