The reverse side of each of the Lunar Gold Coins depicts one of the animals from the Chinese calendar that has its own attribute:

  • Dragon – the only mythical creature of the calendar – symbol of strength;
  • Snake – flexibility;
  • Horse –forging ahead;
  • Goat – unity
  • Monkey – changeability
  • Rooster – being constant
  • Dog – fidelity
  • Pig – amiability
  • Mouse – wisdom
  • Ox – industriousness
  • Tiger – valor
  • Rabbit – caution

The obverse side of the coins differs for each edition, yet they mostly depict important and iconic architectural or natural pieces of China’s rich history and culture.
