The obverse features the bust of Peter II with the inscription "PETRUS II.D.G.C.IMP. ET PERP.BRAS.DEF" which means "Peter II by Grace of God and Perpetual Defender of Brazil".
The reverse of the coin shows the Imperial Coat of Arms and the inscription "IN HOC SIGNO VINCES" which means "In this sign, you will conquer".
