U.S. Mint Showcases Comic Art Designs at ANA World’s Fair of Money
A Historic Announcement at the ANA World’s Fair of Money
At the 2025 American Numismatic Association (ANA) World’s Fair of Money® in Oklahoma City, the U.S. Mint unveiled the highly anticipated designs for Batman™ and Wonder Woman™ in its Comic Art Coin and Medal Program. This program marks a groundbreaking fusion of pop culture and numismatics, celebrating comic art as a uniquely American art form and extending the legacy of coin collecting into bold new territory.
A Program Rooted in Storytelling
The Comic Art Coin and Medal Program began in July 2025 with Superman™, the first Super Hero to appear in the series. His release was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, affirming the Mint’s mission to connect generations through art and history.
“This groundbreaking and historic series is more than a celebration of comic book heroes - it’s a tribute to the enduring power of storytelling,” said Kristie McNally, Acting Director of the Mint. “By honoring these legendary characters on coins and medals, we’re connecting generations through art, history, and imagination.”
Adding authority to this vision is Mint Chief Engraver Joseph F. Menna, whose career spans more than 30 years. A globally recognized digital sculptor and classical artist, Menna has sculpted many of the Mint’s most celebrated modern designs. His work ensures the Comic Art Program balances artistry, symbolism, and technical excellence.
