About the American Silver Eagle

The US Mint continues the year-round American Silver Eagle coin with its 30th Anniversary. It will release on December 1st, 2016. Also, it is the last silver piece in the program – the exceptional 2016 Burnished Silver Eagle. This fantastic coin has uniquely polished planchets which give it a beautiful matte appearance and an original, sharp luster.

Coin Details

Similar to the Proof Silver Eagle Coin, the burnished edition also bears the “W” West Point mintmark, $1 denomination, and is 1 oz. of 99.9% pure silver. The US Mint guarantees the weight, purity, and content. The same Silver Eagle head and tail images are also on this astounding coin. The famous Walking Liberty design, courtesy of Adolph A. Weinman, is on its reverse side. It represents the graceful Lady Liberty. She is a full-length figure. Stars and stripes envelop her. (the folds of the US flag), She confidently moves toward the sunrise, her right hand extends and her left hand holds branches of oak and laurel. Inscriptions of  “In God We Trust,” “2016” and “Liberty” encircle this patriotic image.

The magnificent heraldic eagle is a creation by the renowned John M. Mercanti. The eagle showcases on the reverse side of the coin. It carries a shield. Additionally, the superb “E Pluribus Unum” banner flies. The eagle holds arrows in its left talon and an olive branch in its right talon. It is a symbol of Nation’s preparedness to defend the country and the desire for peace. Thirteen stars frame this majestic image. Furthermore, you'll find the words “United States of America,” as well as the coin’s weight, purity, and denomination.
