The obverse features the National Bank of Iran with the central building located in Tehran, Iran's capital. Inscribed in Persian is "Panjaahomin saal-e Shahanshahi-e Pahlavi" which translates to 'The 50^th anniversary of the Pahlavi dynasty and dates included are '1355 A.H./1976 A.D.'

The reverse depicts the portraits of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his father, Shah Reza Pahlavi, the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty. They are shown side by side to convey a sense of power from the founder and his successor.
