Struck from 5 troy ounces of .9999 pure silver by the Royal Canadian Mint, this extraordinary piece reimagines Emanuel Hahn’s original hand-drawn sketch commemorating the 1939 Royal Visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Hahn’s intricate map design, which traces the Royal Tour’s journey from coast to coast, is faithfully recreated in over 1,600 meticulously engraved lines—down to the subtle folds of paper and guiding lines for text.
This second release in the sketch series is struck on a specially crafted thin blank with a diameter 50% larger than standard 5 oz silver coins, allowing Hahn’s art to truly take center stage. The Latin inscription, “REGEM ET REGINAM CANADA SALVAT,” originally penned by Hahn and later corrected to “SALVTAT,” meaning “Canada salutes the King and Queen,” is also preserved in this masterfully struck collectible. Finished with an antique patina for a vintage look and paired with an art card displaying the original sketch, this coin is both a work of art and a window into the past.
