First minted in 1986, the American Eagle Coin Series is currently produced in silver, gold, platinum, and palladium varieties. For the 35th anniversary of the coin’s release last year, the US Mint rolled out a redesign of the reverse for the American Gold and Silver Eagles. This 2022 Silver Eagle features the new reverse design by artist Emily Damstra.

The obverse for the 2022 American Silver Eagle continues to feature Adolph Weinman’s “Walking Liberty” design. Lady Liberty strides towards the setting sun with oak and laurel branches in her left arm, while reaching out her right arm towards the horizon. The American flag is draped over her shoulders. 

The reverse of the 2022 Silver Eagle depicts the brand new design by AIP (Artist Infusion Program) member Emily Damstra. Artist Michael Gaudioso then brought her vision to life. A majestic bald eagle prepares to land, its wings open wide to slow its movement. The eagle carries an oak branch in its talons to fortify its nest.

• Reverse: Displays the new reverse design by Emily Damstra. A bald eagle flies in for a landing while grasping an oak branch in its talons. Inscriptions: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "1 OZ", "FINE SILVER", and "ONE DOLLAR".
