Operational from 1958 until 1969, The Red Knight was a Canadian air force aerobatic display aircraft. The first model was called the T-33 Silver Star (1958-mid 1968) and then the second model was the CT-114 Tutor (1968- 1969). Both versions of this aircraft are famous for their bright red coloring and both are featured on this coin! Jet-aerobatic performers would maneuver The Red Knight, entertaining audiences across Canada as well as the United States.

The obverse showcases the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by inscriptions, all over a background pattern of The Red Knight emblem.

Designed by David Oram, the reverse boasts the colorized depiction of both models of The Red Knight flying over a Maple Leaf from the pre-1965 RCAF Roundel in the background. The reverse also features the emblem and the artist's initials.
