The obverse of the coin showcases the original Adolph A Weinman “Walking Liberty” design. Lady Liberty strolls toward the sun while holding branches in her left arm. She reaches her right arm towards the sun. The American flag is draped gently over her shoulders.
The reverse displays the design by American sculptor John Mercanti for the final time. A Bald Eagle grasps a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons while spreading out its sizable wings. The eagle also carries a banner in its beak that reads "E Pluribus Unum". The shield on the eagle’s chest is embellished with the US flag, and the thirteen stars above the eagle symbolize the original colonies. Inscriptions regarding the coin's weight, purity, denomination, and country are positioned around the rim.
