The reverse displays the US National Coat of Arms as designed by American sculptor John Mercanti. The Bald Eagle, wings spread apart, grasps a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The eagle also carries a banner that reads "E Pluribus Unum", and the shield on its chest is embellished with the US flag. Thirteen stars above the eagle reference the original colonies.
