This shield contains the crest of the three nations of the United Kingdom. The three lions in the first and fourth quadrants represent England. The lion on its hind legs in the second quadrant symbolizes Scotland. Finally, the melodious harp in the third quadrant is Ireland. ‘DIEU ET MON DROIT’ (‘God and my right’) is etched on a ribbon underneath the lion and unicorn while ‘HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE’ (‘shame upon him who thinks evil upon it’) is inscribed on the shield. The background has a radial line texture.
