Late last year, the 2021 Silver Fender Guitar Pick Coin was released to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Fender® Company. Unsurprisingly, the guitar pick coin proved to be incredibly popular among collectors and sold out quickly. To continue the 75th Anniversary celebration, PAMP Suisse now releases a two-coin Fender-themed set, including this Fender Telecaster Guitar Shaped Coin! Introduced in 1950 as a single-pickup model named the Fender Esquire, this guitar was soon updated to a two-pickup model and dubbed “The Broadcaster”. Due to a copyright issue, the Broadcaster was renamed “The Telecaster'' in 1951 and has kept that moniker until the present day. The Fender Telecaster notably went on to become the world's first commercially successful solid-body electric guitar and is still utilized by musicians all over the world.
The obverse of the coin features the bust of Queen Elizabeth II on the guitar’s body facing towards the neck, where the Queen’s name, country of Issue, and denomination are inscribed. The year of issue and serial number also appears on the body as well.
The reverse has been beautifully colorized to replicate the original 1950 Telecaster model. The Fender® logo is inscribed on the body, modified to commemorate the company’s 75th Anniversary. The weight and purity appear on the pickguard.
