The Emu is endemic to Australia, where it is the largest living member of the genus Dromaius. After the ostrich, the Emu is the second-largest living bird in the world by height. Emus’ bodies are covered with grey-brown plumage that keeps their skin insulated while preventing them from overheating in their hot environment. Although they are flightless, emus have vestigial wings with little claws at the tips. These diurnal creatures normally spend their day foraging, preening their plumage with their beak, and resting.
