Soon, the Giant Tortoise coin will follow in the Seahorse and Shark’s footsteps, with a planned launch in June 2021. The Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) lives a contradictory lifestyle, as it boasts the largest size of any shark but feasts on the smallest of creatures- plankton. To honor this giant of the sea, the coin’s outline extends past the normal circumference to accommodate the shark’s body. 

The obverse displays the right-facing bust of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The queen wears her royal crown and elegant jewelry. Inscriptions surround her bust, with an individualized serial number at the bottom.

The reverse features the imposing Giant Whale Shark, swimming above some coral. Smaller fish appear in the background, along with the series title and weight and purity of the coin.
