The 2020 US Proof Set release begins the 2020 three annual sets struck by the US Mint. The 2020-W Jefferson Nickel has a proof finish with sharp relief and a mirror-like background behind the frosted foreground. The obverse of the Jefferson Nickel displays the portrait of Thomas Jefferson with inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST”, “Liberty”, “2020”, and the “W” mint mark from West Point.

The reverse of the nickel is the “Return to Monticello” design of Jefferson’s Monticello house. Inscriptions include “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “MONTICELLO”, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, as well as the denomination.
