This coin capitalizes on the diversity of basketball players and the intensity of the game. Three different players reach for the basketball soaring overhead. When paired with the basketball net and rim background, this coin suggests the players are about to score.

The reverse design is by AIP artist Donna Weaver. The basketball in this illustration is about to fall into the hoop. Inscriptions are featured on the coin identifying the face value, country, artist initials, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”.
