The American Silver Eagle bullion coin series was first minted in 1986 after the United States resumed bullion production for the first time since FDR ended it in 1933. These silver eagle coins are one of the most popular and fan-favorite purchases for portfolios internationally. Produced by the US Mint and backed by the US government, silver eagle coins also make a great start for anyone beginning to collect bullion coins. Also, these coins have never seen an emergency issue production, which makes this particular American Silver Eagle bullion coin that much more incredible for your collection.

The obverse of this coin features the original 1916 Adolph  A. Weinman “Walking Liberty” design used for the American silver half dollars in the early 1900s. Lady Liberty marches to the coin’s left. She has her right arm outstretched towards the rising sun with the American flag waving in the background behind her. She also bears a bounty of olive and oak branches in her left arm.

The coin’s reverse displays John Mercanti’s updated United States national coat of arms. This illustration displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings. It holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. Clutched in its beak is a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Its chest bears a shield with the US flag, and 13 stars shine above the eagle’s head to signify the original colonies.
