Given the situation of the coronavirus pandemic, the US Mint has reduced its manufacturing of the Silver American Eagle. The coin is typically made at the West Point Mint, however, with the reduced production, 240,000 2020 American Silver Eagles (ASE coins) were made through the Philadelphia Mint. While these coins do not bear a special P-mintmark, these ASE coins are specially labeled to signal that these coins came from the Philadelphia Mint. These American Silver Eagles have a face value of $1 and are struck from .999 fine silver with a weight of 1 oz. PCGS also graded these coins a perfectMS 70 with a First Strike designation. Do not hesitate to order your impeccable 2020 (P) 1 oz Silver American Eagle Emergency Production PGCS MS 70 FS. Remember, ASE dollar coins are among the most collected coins in the world, so purchase now before you miss your chance!
The American Eagle Series was first released in 1986 once the United States resumed bullion production for the first time after FDR ended it in 1933. These ASE coins are one of the most desired by coin collectors who purchase these once a year. Since these are produced by the US Mint, these are backed by the US government. If you’re a beginning coin collector, ASE coins are a great place to start collecting bullion coins.
The obverse of this coin bears the original 1916 Adolph A. Weinman “Walking Liberty” illustration first seen on the American silver half dollars from the early 1900s. In the design, Lady Liberty strides to the left side of the ASE coins. Her right arm reaches towards the rising sun and the American flag waves behind her. She also carries olive and oak branches in her left arm.
The ASE coin’s reverse displays John Mercanti’s updated United States national coat of arms. This illustration displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings. It holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. Clutched in its beak is a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Its chest bears a shield with the US flag, and 13 stars shine above the eagle’s head to signify the original colonies.
