The obverse of this coin features the original 1916 Adolph A. Weinman “Walking Liberty” design used for the American silver half dollars in the early 1900s. Lady Liberty marches to the coin’s left, and she has her right arm outstretched towards the rising sun. The American flag flaps gently in the background behind her. She also bears a bounty of olive and oak branches in her left arm.
The coin’s reverse displays John Mercanti’s updated United States national coat of arms. This illustration displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings. It holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. Clutched in its beak is a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Its chest bears a shield with the US flag, and 13 stars shine above the eagle’s head to signify the original colonies.
