This release is making waves in the bullion community as the Royal Mint has only previously released the Gold Double Sovereign with a proof finish. The obverse of the Double Sovereign displays the latest portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by the talented English engraver Jody Clark. Her Majesty wears an ornate crown and elegant earrings. Inscriptions included on the obverse: “ELIZABETH II”, “DEI GRA REGINA FID DEF”.

The reverse features the famous depiction of St George slaying the Dragon, designed by Benedetto Pistrucci. Inscriptions on the reverse include the designer’s initials and the year of mintage.
