The Proof American Silver Eagle version was released by the US Mint in November 1986 and carries the same iconic design as its BU counterpart representing the Walking Liberty and the majestic heraldic eagle. However, the proof editions are the only ones which carry the mintmark and are struck multiple times using special dies and blanks to obtain an exceptionally fine brilliant finish highly praised by collectors and investors all over the world.
