The coin’s reverse, meanwhile, displays the national coat of arms of the United States. Here, an American bald eagle shows off its wingspan behind a shield decorated with the American flag. It is grasping a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak as 13 stars form a triangle over its head. These represent the original 13 colonies. The eagle also holds an olive branch in its right talon and a bundle of arrows in its left. The coin’s weight, purity, denomination, and country are inscribed along the rim.
